Garrett
An elegy.

O child, my child. You are the painting I never finished.
You loved waffles. Sword fights. And dance competitions.
Bike rides around Lake Artemisia and trips to Rita’s Italian Ice.
I never got to say “I love you,” or “You changed my life.”
The coldest case of broken bonds no one foretold
But I sent my condolences down to Berwyn Road.
O child, my child. You are the painting I never finished.
You loved waffles. Sword fights. And dance competitions.
I miss you.
