I contain multitudes

My name is Devans Eli. My mission for this writing and reading space is to share my life, thoughts, and creativity through poetry, prose, and short story. I also want to hear the stories of others and network with likeminded people.

One of my favorite quotes is by Walt Whitman: “Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes).” It wouldn’t be fair to use one word or phrase or people group to describe the very essence of my identity. Like Ben 10, there is much of me to see, discover, embrace, and love. I have more than one superpower. But here are a few things you should know:

• I am an extroverted introvert.

• In 2020, I left the evangelical church.

• I know what it feels like to experience loss of community.

• I took published works off the shelves.

• I used to be in a place where I didn’t fully accept my worth.

• I am a mental health advocate.

• I am a husband, son, brother, and friend.

• I am learning and growing.

I hope to provide a forum for readers to enjoy my literature and connect my words to their experiences.
